Here at Kia of Chula Vista, we want to help keep you informed so that you can get the most out of your vehicle. A blind spot monitor is a driver-assist feature that is available with many newer vehicles, and it's one of the most in demand safety features available.

A blind spot monitor uses a number of technologies, which could include cameras, sensors, and radars, to scan the area around your blind spots. Blind spot monitors issue visual and audible alerts to let you know when a vehicle is moving into your blind spot.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) found that driver-assist features can save lives and cut down on lane-change collisions. According to the IIHS, there may have been 85,000 less lane-change collisions and 55,000 less lane-change collision injuries if every vehicle on the road in 2015 had a blind spot monitor. The IIHS also reported that blind spot monitors and other driver-assist features reduce collisions by 11 percent.
